This symbolizes earth’s rich red color and the blood that symbolizes life, and is consistent with the Himba ideal of beauty. Absolutely beautiful.

An ophthalmologist friend of the photographer had this to say about the boy’s unusual eyes: ‘The picture of the little boy with the blue eyes and dark skin probably represents Ocular Albinism or Nettleship-Falls albinism, or Juvenile uveitis.
